Rescue Services
Beyond fire suppression, ESD10 provides rescue services for residents in emergency situations that require specialized training and equipment. From car accidents to structural collapses, our firefighters respond to a variety of incidents where rapid intervention is necessary to protect lives.
Types of Rescue Operations
- Vehicle Extrication – When serious accidents occur on major roadways like Beltway 8 or FM 1960, our firefighters use hydraulic rescue tools to extract victims safely from vehicles.
- Search and Rescue – During floods, missing persons incidents, or building collapses, firefighters coordinate with local agencies to conduct searches.
- Confined Space and High-Angle Rescues – Industrial environments and construction sites in Harris County pose risks where people can become trapped in tight spaces or elevated structures.
- Flood and Swift Water Rescues – Harris County has experienced several major flooding events in recent years. Our crews are trained in high-water rescues using boats and specialized equipment to reach stranded individuals.
Equipment and Training
Firefighters undergo regular technical rescue training and utilize advanced tools such as the Jaws of Life, rope systems, air-lifting bags, and swift water rescue boats. As Harris County continues to grow, ensuring proper coverage for rescue services remains a top priority for ESD10.
