Disaster Response
Harris County is no stranger to natural disasters, and ESD10 plays an important role in emergency response and disaster preparedness. Whether responding to hurricanes, large-scale fires, or hazardous material incidents, our firefighters work alongside other agencies to keep the community safe.
Types of Disasters We Respond To
- Hurricanes and Severe Storms – High winds and flooding from Gulf Coast storms require coordinated rescue and recovery efforts.
- Flooding and Water Rescues – Certain areas in northeast Harris County are prone to severe flooding, making water rescue training an essential part of our preparedness.
- Wildfires and Large-Scale Fire Events – Dry conditions can create significant wildfire hazards, particularly in undeveloped land near residential areas.
- Hazardous Material Incidents – Industrial and chemical sites in our district require emergency protocols for hazardous spills and fires.
Coordinated Emergency Management
ESD10 works with county emergency operations centers, law enforcement, and mutual aid partners to coordinate disaster response and relief efforts. Preparedness and planning are essential in minimizing damage and restoring normal operations after a large-scale emergency.
